The latest trend in business : Design Thinking
In this workshop, we investigate the latest trend in business known as “Design Thinking”. It’s a problem-solving approach based on observation and focused on the human element. Not only can Design Thinking be used in conceptualizing and marketing products, it can be applied to all sorts of domains, from change management, production and human resources as well as personal improvement. It is thus a very appropriate tool for future engineers, designers, artists and managers. Students will investigate the challenges of embracing Corporate Social Responsibility through the design thinking approach with territorial stakeholders such as government officials, farmers, entrepreneurs, members of top management teams etc. They will design a meaningful project on a real-world problem by interacting with people who resist change as well as people who have a transition mindset and who advocate for change.
At the end of this workshop the learner should be able to:
- acquire theoretical and hands-on knowledge in Sustainable Development (SD) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR);
- develop critical skills in problem-solving, partnership-building;
- acquire hands-on skills in design thinking, aesthetic inquiry and art-based intervention, project management, change management, sustainable development and strategy development.
To support students, give them the opportunity to work as a team and develop them throughout the year, the teaching methods include rational and creative activities as well as accompanying the students through the design thinking process with the project partners: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test.
Throughout the workshop students will gain knowledge and business research skills on CSR and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In teams, after fully identifying and understanding the problem through a multiple stakeholder perspective they will make a recommendation for partners to implement.
The assessment is based on written reports, group CSR audit and oral presentations to decision-makers.
A project management certificate will be delivered to all those students who meet the requirement.
